Secretary of Defence and Urban Development, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Governor of the Central Bank, Ajith Nivard Cabraal opening the Head office of the new Cargills Bank  yesterday.

Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal yesterday said the launch of Cargills Bank bore testimony to investor confidence in Sri Lanka.

Addressing the gathering at the bank’s opening at Galle Road, Colombo 03 he said that it depicted the growth of Sri Lanka’s economy since the conclusion of the war.

Chairman of Cargills Bank Limited, Louis Page said: “What we aspire to build from today is a culture of commercial banking that facilitates progress and brings prosperity across all social and income groups.”

Managing Director/CEO, Harris Premaratne said that the banks aim was to uplift the livelihood of all Sri Lankans. It would also focus its attention on corporate customers.

Cargills Bank entered is the 23rd licensed Commercial Bank in Sri Lanka. Its operations would be handled by a group of top banking executives with vast experience and exposure in the local and international markets. (DJ)
